Dr. Nissa or Dr. Wan graduated from Khon Kaen University. She was born in the United States of America, giving her the ability to speak English quite smoothly with that slight ‘New York’s swag’. She has always been a bookworm and stumbled on a biography written by Dr. James Harriet, a rural English Farm veterinarian, while in 6th grade and fell in love with the series. She was determined to become a veterinarian and save those that cannot speak for themselves. She found the GTAEF on Facebook and after a short interview and a visit, she had decided to work with us.
4 years later, she finds herself enjoying the presence of the elephants and working closely with the mahouts and the rest of the team to bring the best care to the elephants.
You can find Dr. Nissa throughout the site, sometime she is walking around the Hotel, sometime you can spot her from your balcony walking with the mahouts to see the elephants or you can join her in an ELE class or WWG class. Feel free to greet her and listen to her elephant’s stories, some are quite entertaining.
You can get a glimpse of what it is like working with the elephant via the Wild and Curious Podcast here.
